HOW TO UPGRADE CANON 7D SOFTWARE FULL
If you don't then blur from shake caused by mirror slap and camera shake from pressing the shutter button dramatically reduces the image sharpness Highest quality prime lenses are also necessary to obtain the full resolution possible with that many pixels.įrankly it is ridiculous for an amateur like me to spend almost $4000 on a camera that must be used on a tripod to realize its full potential for portraiture.įor casual shots around the home you will be working at distances less than 15' so the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, or a similar lens, is a great choice even if you do get some extension distortion.įor more formal portraiture the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM and the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM or EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM, or similar lenses, are great choices. If you aren't aware of it, it is necessary to use this camera on a tripod, and best to use it with a remote release with mirror lock up. I also don't see changing to a full frame camera unless it is the Canon EOS 5DS R with its 50.6 Mpixel sensor. The "upgrade" in image quality would be too small to be significant. I see absolutely no reason what so ever to change to a newer crop sensor camera. Using prime lenses would be a royal pain. I use zoom lenses to allow me change the subject framing while shoot at distances of 12' to 15' to minimize or eliminate perspective distortion (i.e. I only get about 2% to 3% of out of focus or blurred portraits, even with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS lens at 200mm, and that is quite acceptable. I shoot hand held, not on a tripod, and the weight of the 7D and a shape that fits my hands make it easy to hand hold with little or no camera shake.
The 7D is usually considered a semi/full professional sports camera because of the AF system and 8 frames/second burst speed.Ī full frame camera is usually considered better for portraits.
